Bloggers And Social Media Experts Say The Viral World Is Driving Green Mainstream During Good And Green-The Green Marketing Conference
Hartford, Conn. – October 10, 2007-- Web 2.0 has helped drive the environmental movement from niche audiences into more mainstream discussions and has become an important part of a company’s “green” marketing plan. During Good And Green-The Green Marketing Conference, November 29-30, 2007, Chicago Cultural Center, experts in the world of social media and blogging will discuss how marketers can authentically engage environmentally-conscious consumers with their brands through online communities and conversations.
“Consumer participation online is blurring the distinction between advertising and content,” says David Wigder, senior vice president for Digitas and Good And Green panel participant. “Arguably, marketers of green products are in a better position to tap into this consumer enthusiasm than marketers of traditional products because, for many, green is not just about a product or brand, but also a social cause. Marketers must tap into this enthusiasm credibly, however, or they risk accusations of ‘greenwashing’.”
As an environment-conscious social media expert and lead writer/editor for prominent marketing blog, Pronet Advertising, Muhammad Saleem spends a lot of time on various social bookmarking and networking sites participating in and understanding community dynamics of these sites. Says Saleem, who will also be speaking during this Good And Green panel discussion, “Becoming part of the online conversation is about creating credible, relevant content and authentically participating in online communities. While content is certainly king, in social media, community is just as royal.”
Through speaker-led discussion groups, innovative workshops and great networking events, Good And Green is a national conference designed to teach mainstream marketers the techniques and benefits of green marketing and its bottom line impact.
